Welcome to Bellacopia
On the Renaissance island kingdom of Bellacopia, where creativity and the arts are sacred, a young orphan chef named Baba Linguini discovers he may be the child of prophecy destined to finish what the Celestial Chef began — the mythical Sauce of Immortality.
Found as an infant during a fabled Meteor Shower and raised by the jovial Papo Gostoso in Aunt Chovi's orphanage-kitchen, Baba learns that every ingredient must be combined with harmony and served with love to become a master chef.
When the meteor shower returns years later to reawaken ancient forces, Baba is chosen by the legendary Leonardo di Vino and joins his daring daughter Zinfandella on a quest to recover four supernatural ingredients — each embodying great power and virtue: courage, intuition, love, and endurance.
Baba must find: Lava Salt, Falcon Seeds, Neptune Orchid, and Moly Root. Each ingredient lies within a landscape more fantastical than the last — volcanic caverns, forests of giant falcons, and treacherous water nymphs. With guidance from Leonardo, Galileo, and the mystical Nostro-Duomo, he discovers that every supernatural ingredient bestows great power and virtue (courage, intuition, love, and endurance). They are all required in perfect proportion to revive the Sacred Sauce. To blend them is to balance the Universe itself.
But trouble begins to brew in Bellacopia, as Prince Machabelli, a vain celebrity chef whose fame is fading fast, grows jealous of Baba’s rising acclaim. Encouraged by the cunning Mona Lisa, he joins a sinister plot that twists him into a comically dangerous rival. Worse still, Duke Vincenzio—the power-hungry patron who once financed Leonardo’s inventions—arrives with an army demanding the Sauce as repayment for his “investment.” Their greed threatens to corrupt the very essence of creation.
As enemies close in, Baba is poisoned by a fake Neptune Orchid, while Zinfandella arrives to face the deception and greed that has nearly destroyed them. The dramatic conclusion unfolds like a culinary opera as a wonderland of flying machines and clockwork contraptions try to hold the Duke away from the Sauce, while whirring gliders and cannons collide with the mountain fortress and rocks crumble into rivers of lava. In the midst of chaos, Baba races against time to stir in the final ingredients as the Duke’s army approaches.
At its heart, the screenplay celebrates the artist as hero — the one who restores harmony through imagination and empathy — told through a love story that is both playful and profound.
