Three years after tragedy strikes, Baba works for his demented rival Machabelli. Alone on his balcony before going to work, Baba sings to Zinfandella, believing her life is better without him. Arriving by ship at the same moment, she sings her own truth in this duet with Baba.

During flying lessons, Baba ignores Zinfandella’s warning to turn into the wind and avoid a downdraft. He crashes to the ground. Baba blacks out, and a vision of weightlessness emerges to defy fear and gravity. Baba rises up in his flying machine to join Zinfandella in a cosmic dance. He soars through Zinfandella’s “Eyes of Love” and sees behind the Veil of Time. The wonders of the Cosmos are a playground for lovers, and revealed with such beauty that there are no words to describe—only a song that they both can sing. Baba awakens and realizes he is now prepared for the Quest
